Since 2013, I have taught with Dr. Tamara Vesel, Chief of the Department of Palliative Care at Tufts Medical Center and Director of The Judith Revis Children's Hospice Foundation. Dr. Vesel has created an interactive, multidisciplinary curriculum for interdisciplinary palliative care providers which aims to enhance their communication skills and ability to deliver compassionate care to critically ill patients. Along with another actor, I perform in patient/family role-play simulations designed in collaboration with Dr. Vesel. Then, using the framework of classical theater training techniques, we provide targeted feedback about communication to learners, complimenting Dr. Vesel's extensive medical feedback. These workshops have also involved cutting-edge research studies with publication pending.
We have traveled across the country, and our partners have included:
Eagle River Nature Center - Eagle River, AK
Directing Much Ado About Nothing in Cambridge, MA with Valerie Madden*, Kim Carrell*, and Gideon Bautista. (* denotes members of Actors' Equity Association).
